Catch a taxi from the official taxi queue outside the arrival hall.  It costs 16 us$ to go to any hotel in the city.

There are plenty of hotels in the old quarter.

Hotels around West Lake offer a more quiet atmosphere but they are outside the city centre.

It is a good 17km if you are thinking about walking round the West Lake in the morning. Hahahah

You are going to like the many nice shops and eating places within the West Lake area.

Everyone must try a sip of the newly brewed Vietnamese coffee; omg you will enjoy it.

The Nha Hang Ngon Restaurant  at 26 Tran Hun Dao, Hoan Kiem, serves very good yummy Vietnamese foods.

If you must eat western food, try the Green Tangerine at 48 Hang Be.

Take a day trip to Halong Bay.  The oneway journey is 4 hours, but it is worth it.

Oh yes, please take good care when you are crossing the road.  You will know what I mean when you are in Hanoi.
